Come see what we are all about!
Shorenorth Cooperative Preschool offers a unique and exciting educational experience for your family. Parents benefit from an excellent education curriculum, and support from other caring peers. Children enjoy a wide variety of social interactions and creative experiences by “learning through play”. Skills developed at Shorenorth Co-op Preschool will last a lifetime!
Research suggests young children learn best in an enriched and multi-sensory environment that is age appropriate.
Shorenorth provides this opportunity with a variety of learning tools. Our classroom is a safe and loving environment, built around the proven concept of “play-based learning”. We have a space dedicated to dress-up where kids can let their imaginations run away with their costumes! The arts and crafts area is always buzzing with activity; paints, clay tables, and age-appropriate crafts are available during every class. One of the most popular centers in our school is the sensory room, which houses a low-standing bin where curious fingers can sift through soft white sand, ticklish feathers, salty sea shells, aromatic cocoa husks, just to name a few. And the ever-popular reading loft is always brimming with books just waiting for little minds to come in, cozy up, and explore new worlds. Every class includes songs, story time, movement, and so much more!
There is enrichment for the adults as well! The parent education curriculum consists of weekly discussion groups and materials, as well as guest speakers who are experts on raising children, navigating parenthood, and building community.
We are accredited by Shoreline Community College, and follow guidelines as set by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
Our school has qualified as an “Eco-Healthy Childcare” partner by the Oregon Environmental Council since 2008.
